Aviston Junior Women's Club First Annual
Garden Brunch & Tour was a wonderful success. Brunch was
held at Hidden Lake Winery in Aviston on the side porch.
Cool weather and a wonderful atmosphere made the morning even
more enjoyable. Each table was adorned with fresh sprigs
of rosemary, mint and basil herbs from Hidden Lake Winery owner,
Angie Holbrook's herb garden.
The AJWC also promoted their
garden signs by placing the bookshelf standalone versions on the
tables for everyone to enjoy.
Everyone enjoyed a delicious
Sunday morning brunch that was served in Champagne Hall.
Attendees dined on custom made omelets, blintzes and more.
Dawn Ahner, from Ahner Florists in New
Baden gave a wonderful lecture and demonstration on how to
create potted arrangements. She displayed a wide variety
of planters and flowers and the best way to arrange them as well
as the best practices to care for them.
The audience was welcome to ask questions
and share ideas throughout the presentation. Everyone
enjoyed the brunch and displays. A few of the creations
were raffled off and sold.
After the tour, everyone was invited to
tour the herb garden of Angie Holbrook and the gardens of the
Timmermann House Bed and Breakfast in Aviston.
